Truth
The topic is Truth.
How do you determine truth?
We have two basic systems: mammalian and higher order thought.
Our mammalian systems, also called intuition or common sense, are heuristic in nature. We come to snap decisions based on past experience. This is great when an immediate decision is required, such as is that a snake and is it a danger to me?
The problem with this fast kind of thought is that it is subject to error, especially when you confuse a new situation with previous past experiences.
Higher order thought is slow and deliberate and can be very accurate. This includes philosophy, logic, mathematics, science, and engineering.
These higher order thought processes are the only systems humans have created that are reliable predictors of the future.
This section of the rabbit hole looks at the principles of how you determine truth.
